The Prophecy of the Coming of the Messiah

“Have they not said that God himself should come down among the children of men, and take upon him the form of man, and go forth in mighty power upon the face of the earth?” – Mosiah 13:34

“Yea, even six hundred years from the time that my father left Jerusalem, a prophet would the Lord God raise up among the Jews—even a Messiah, or, in other words, a Savior of the world.” – 1 Nephi 10:4

The prophets knew and testified that the Messiah would come. He would be brought up among the Jews. His purpose would be to save the world. It is simple, yet it remains the most powerful of all prophecies ever given.

It is exciting for us living in the latter days – as we can look back on these prophecies and see that they have been fulfilled. The Messiah did come. I’m grateful for the ancient prophets and their prophecies. They bolster my faith in Christ. The examples of fulfilled prophecy also help me to have strengthened faith in prophecies that have not yet come to pass.
